On February 29th 2024, we lost our beautiful Alex Lea in a tragic hiking accident in the Lake District. Alex was our best friend, inspiration, star athlete, source of boundless joy and positivity.

Alex’s happy place was the mountains and she always inspired us with her spirit and the way she challenged herself in trail running and multiple other sports.

To honour her memory and the joy she found in running, we are following her footsteps this year. Alex completed the Kielder Marathon last year as her first marathon. A few of us are coming together to run in either the 10km, half marathon and full marathon distances at the Kielder Marathon weekend - the 5th and 6th of October 2024.

We are raising money to support the incredible Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team (LAMRT) who brought Alex home to us. The tireless efforts of the LAMRT help those in need in the Lake District and the charity is run entirely by dedicated volunteers. Their commitment and expertise make the Lake District a safer place for everyone who ventures into its mountains.
